With the blessing of almighty and hailing from musical family, owing to her father, thiru. T.A.Hariharan, renowned flautist of All India Radio, Lalithakala Raj began her journey in bharathanatyam as a disciple of guru naatttarasan kottai Krishnan during her childhood days, later joined under the tutelage of kalaimamani venniradai Nirmala, later trained under guru smt. Uma sundaram of kalakshetra. She has also been conferred with the Natya Shikaramani Award.
Her School Shreekalalaya trains students from basic levels of Bharatanatyam towards nrityapraveshika. The school concentrates on the quality of the art form rather than the quantity of students, where it believes in not compromising on the standard of dancing.
She had played various roles in the productions of venniradai Nirmala, and been a part of their ace production
BHARATHI KANNAMMA, and has traveled all around India to stage the show. Later, joined smt Uma sundaram and had been under her guidance.

Smt. Lalithakala also steps into different aspects of dance, namely compeering for events like nrityapraveshika and rangapraveshika, tries to highlight herself in the field of Tamil compeering. With around ten nrityapraveshika to her credit, her students also are regular performers on Doordarshan.
She aims to take her school for bharathanatyam to a different level by bringing in faculties specialised with the nuances of dance, in the coming years to give her students more knowledge and exposure in the art form.
The children are periodically exposed to stage events, temple programs and dance competition to over come stage fear and to improve their presentations through experience.The students are also trained in theoritical aspects of bharathanatyam and attend graded exams accordingly.
